Ameraucanas

We sort of accidentally got into breeding Ameraucanas and we are in LOVE! These are sweet, loving birds who lay beautiful blue eggs. This breed is cold hardy and heat tolerant with access to cool spots to dirt bath and cool water. You can expect around 4-6 eggs per week, and the pullets begin laying very young and will lay through the winter.  For 2023 we have fertile hatching eggs and pullets and roosters for sale.

Check out availability for pullets, hens, and hatching eggs on our home page.

Blue/Black/Splash Ameraucanas (with a splash of Wheaten)

Starry Night, our accidental Ameraucana, wearing a pink Diaper 🙂

Starry Night 2021 Rooster (Foundation Rooster from MyPetChicken in 2021)

Starry came from a “bonus” egg, along with a batch of Isabel Cuckoo Orpington eggs we hatched in 2021. He was the most adorable chick and as he grew, bonded with us in ways we had never seen before. He is the gentlest rooster we’ve ever seen. He’s 2 years old now and a wonderful and kind flock rooster. He likes to cuddle upside down with us on the couch during the cold winter months. Sadly, he contracted a virus as a chick that rendered him blind in one eye but he has been otherwise healthy and this year helped us produce 14 healthy chicks with his 3 hens.

Tiamat (“Tia”)  2022 Hen (Black BBS Foundation Hen from MyPetChicken in 2022)

This sweet girl is my best friend and spends a lot of time in the house. She serves triple duty as both a laying hen, breeder, and therapy chicken for my clients. Due to some issues with her eggs this year we only got 3 babies from her but they are stunning. We look forward to great things from our best girl!

Andromeda (“Andie”)  2022 Hen (Splash Foundation Hen from MyPetChicken in 2022)

Andie is a very good size for a large fowl Ameraucana and while she is not as well marked as we might like, the. two babies from her this year have GORGEOUS markings. We are eager to see how Daemon the cockerel and Cali the pullet grow out.

Cassiopea (“Cassie”)  2022 Hen (Splash Foundation Hen from MyPetChicken in 2022)

Cassie is a sweet little bird, who is the biological mama to most of our 2023 pullets and cockerels. She loves people and is a tough healthy bird, who lays lots of beautiful blue eggs. She occasionally tries to go broody, but never really follows through. She is a little bit of a clown and loves to fly over the fence to the grassy field next door to forage. She is a smaller bird, but still maintains her middle position in the flock hierarchy.
